South Uist
Place of death:At Home
Date of funeral:23/12/2010

Neil came along to Mass every Sunday until his final illness prevented him from doing so. He continued to receive Holy Communion in his home up until the time of his death.
In his homily, Fr. McAuley spoke of the "Seaman's Prayer", which was very appropriate to remember at Neil's Requiem Mass.
"Lord God, Creator of land and sea, bless those who work at sea. Be with them in fair weather and foul, in danger or distress. Strengthen them when weary, lift them up when down and comfort them when far from their loved ones. In this life, bring them safely to shore and, in the life to come, welcome them to your kingdom. Amen."
Mr. Bell was laid to rest next to his wife Mary, who died sixteen years earlier and his father, Robert.
At the family's request, a retiring collection was taken up at the Requiem Mass to be shared equally between the local Community Nurses and the local MacMillan Cancer Nurses.
Mr. Bell's brother Geroge, previously shown as buried in Hallan, is actually buried in Barra with his younger sister.
