Name: | Mr. Andrew MacKenzie |
DOD: | 19/02/2004 |
Age: | 65 |
Address: | Daliburgh South Uist |
Funeral Location: | Daliburgh Church of Scotland |
Occupation: | Butcher |
Additional Info: | Andrew drove the Co-op Mobile Shop van for years, going to out-of-the-way places to deliver food and other necessities to the local community. One Christmas Eve when it was blowing a gale Andrew tried eight times to get the van over the hill at South Lochboisdale. He finally succeeded, to the cheers of the local folk, who had come over the hill to meet him. Because of his determination, this community did not go without food for Christmas. Latterly he also worked as a butcher, and sadly passed away just three and a half months after retiring. May he rest in peace. |
