Mr. MacKinnon was a Radio Operator for MacBrayne's Steamers. He spent many years on the SS Lochmor, and recently was transferred to the SS Seaforth when he passed away suddenly.
"The death took place last Sunday morning, 26th April, of John MacKinnon, 9 Casimir Place, Daliburgh. A native of Barra, he was Chief Radio Officer with Messrs David MacBrayne Ltd. As he was about to enter the dining room in the Loch Seaforth for breakfast on Sunday he collapsed with a severe heart attack. He passed away soon after. The interment took place at Hallan Cemetery after Requiem Mass at St. Peter's. To his widow and family we offer our sincere condolences." (Written by Mgr. Neil MacKellaig on 5th May, 1970)
